A small press with a long view.
Page & Novel is an independent publishing imprint based in Australia. We exist to make a small number of books properly — edited with care, designed for reading, and built to be kept.
Publishing has never been busier, and much of what it produces is made to be read once and set aside. We started Page & Novel to work the other way around: to publish fewer books, give each of them the time it deserves, and make objects worth returning to.
Being independent is the point. It lets us choose our list slowly, edit without a clock running, and set and bind each book the way it should be. When we publish something, it is because we believe in it — not because a schedule demanded it.
We would rather be known for a shelf of books we stand behind than a warehouse of books we don't.
We are an Australian imprint, and that shapes what we make and how we make it. Our first titles are in preparation now. We are not rushing them, and we would rather tell you they are coming than pretend they are already here.
Principles we hold to.
A short list
We publish a small number of titles so we can give each one our full attention, from acquisition through to the finished copy.
Words and paper
The writing and the physical book are edited together. Typesetting, materials and binding are part of the reading experience, not decoration.
Honest about where we are
We will only ever show you books that genuinely exist. Until the first list is ready, we would rather say so plainly.
On manuscripts
Page & Novel is not currently accepting unsolicited manuscripts. We are focused on preparing our opening list. If our submissions policy changes, we will publish the details here.
